The Reddington pursuit was my go-to option, and I couldn't be happier. For a rod in this price range, it is just wonderful: craftmanship is good, and I find the rod easy to cast. While I won't compare some of the craftmanship to my other rods, I can say that for the price I paid, I got way more than I expected. I would heartedly recommend this rod to (a) anyone who wants to get initiated in fly fishing, and finds the regular outfits/combos pricey (this is usually a costlier sort of fishing than spinning or baitcasting), or else (b) for any more experienced fly fisher who already owns plenty of rods and just wants a good, cheaper rod to complete his set or incur in a new weight category (e.g.: freshwater going to saltwarer) without having to purchase yet another $300+ rod, or else (c) for those of you who need a good excuse to justify to your wife that--yes--you do *need* just "one more" rod. Took up salmon fishing in northern Mi. Only had one incident with reel falling off in stream. Had to scoop up with net. The internal screw came loose inside the cover/cap. Lucky did not lose and was able to tighten. I don't blame the manufacture on this. I did not check the gear before I used. Hopefully this does not become an issue and it's the last I will see of it. I am happy with the outfit. I netted 3 King salmon with this outfit without problem. Drag system performed to expectations from a beginners viewpoint. Would recommend this product to any Greenhorn starting off.The product has life time warranty which is a big reason I purchased this set-up. Great product for the price! Plan to get many more fish stories and memories from this product combo.
