Smocked dress - bishop Many boots (rubber construction) rapidly melt from DEET-based insect repellents. Kamik manufacture a few boots with PVC. This material is DEET-proof they tell us. The Kamik PVC models for children are: "Sweetpea", "Alex", "Sharks", and "Kelsey2". Unfortunately (at the time of this writing) none of these models are available in a light solid color (ie solid yellow or white) as would be preferable to be able to see ticks more easily. An alternative to using DEET on the currently available PVC boots would be to use the light solid colored rubber boots with the new Picaridin-based insect repellants. Picaridin is not supposed to melt plastics, rubber, varnish, etc as DEET does so readily. Of course one could also use the less potent insect repellants such as those based on lemon-of-eucalyptus, peppermint, etc. We live in a Lyme-tick endemic area and choose to use the potent DEET/Picaridin formulas on clothes and the nearly-as-effective natural repellents (ie "Alpenglow Skin Care Alaska's Best Insect Repellent") on our children's skin.

Western Chief F.D.U.S.A. Rain Boot (Toddler/Little Kid/Big Kid) (Shoes) Three year old little boy. Fire Chief boots. Do I need to say more? They've been great in the puddles & the playroom. My son even wears them to run outside when he doesn't want to waste time putting on sneakers! High Recommendation.
