 June 3, 2014 Lilia When I opened my first stores in the early 70's, walking to the bank at midnight with my deposits was always a harrowing experience. Police had a crime epidemic on their hands and asking for an escort was out of the question, but the Guardian Angels were there. Curtis Sliwa and his Guardian Angels gave the City a boost in security just when we needed it. The Guardian Angels kept a watchful eye on my stores and the neighborhood. I'll always be grateful. On a side note, Michelle Knight, one of the three women held captive in the Cleveland kidnappings, has a Guardian Angel  connection and she will be joining us for dinner next week to tell us about it. Ms. Knight has just published a book about her ordeal, Finding Me: A Decade of Darkness.So join us. We still have a few tables left. Take a table, or individual seats and I will make arrangements we all sit together. Margo and I are hosting an old fashion, "Frank Sinatra" dance band party at the Edison Ballroom on 47th Street for Curtis' 60th birthday and we hope you will join us.
